Drilling Motor Technician:

The Drilling Motor Technician will inspect, analyze, test, measure, repair and perform full or partial overhauls on assemblies or subassemblies of directional motors, and other oilfield drilling components. The Drilling Motor Technician will perform entire disassembly and reassembly of equipment to pristine condition and ensure that all tools and test equipment are fully serviceable prior to the start of repair work and are fully accounted for after each repair. Non-technical duties will include routine house cleaning of the yard and shop spaces and equipment, cleaning equipment, moving equipment around the yard and participating in various meetings, trainings and development activities.

Equipment Maintenance and Inspection:

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of drilling motors to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  • Clean and lubricate components of drilling motors as part of regular maintenance.
  • Conduct tests and measurements to assess the performance and efficiency of drilling motors.
  • Identify and diagnose issues or malfunctions in drilling motors and develop appropriate repair plans.

Repair and Troubleshooting:

  • Disassemble and reassemble drilling motors to repair or replace faulty components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems of drilling motors.
  • Use specialized tools, instruments, and diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify problems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to develop solutions for complex issues.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts used.
  • Document repair procedures, including detailed descriptions of work performed and recommended improvements.
  • Generate reports on the condition of drilling motors, highlighting any recurring issues or trends.
  • Prepare cost estimates for repairs, replacements, and upgrades as required.

Quality Control and Safety:

  • Adhere to industry safety standards and regulations during all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure repairs and maintenance meet specified standards.
  • Follow proper procedures for testing and calibrating drilling motor components.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and tools required for drilling motor maintenance and repair.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to order necessary supplies and materials.
  • Maintain an organized inventory system and ensure proper storage of spare parts.

Continuous Learning and Development:

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in drilling motor technology and maintenance practices.
  • Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Seek opportunities for professional development and certifications related to drilling motor maintenance.
Qualificiations:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.
  • Experience in the maintenance, repair, or operation of drilling motors.
  • Strong understanding of drilling motor systems, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with precision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and reporting on work activities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in the oil and gas industry.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in challenging environments.
  • Willingness to work on-site and travel as required.
